The project at the General Hospital in St. George’s is another undertaking of Ministry of Health as it continues to upgrade the physical infrastructure of healthcare facilities throughout the nation.
A few days ago, the flooring in the main waiting area of the X-ray department was removed and replaced by much stronger flooring material. The work was carried out by a crew from the hospital’s maintenance department
Although the X-ray department is one of the busiest at the General Hospital, X-ray services were not interrupted since work was done on afternoons.
Hospital’s management officials say the project, especially the flooring replacement, was designed to ensure the safety and comfort of clients and staff.
In the coming weeks and months, several other projects aimed at reorganizing and strengthening healthcare delivery services nationwide are scheduled to begin, in keeping with a list of priorities of the Health Ministry for 2011.
On April 1, 2011, the ministry commenced refurbishment of the Union Medical Station in St. Mark and the Hermitage Medical Station in St. Patrick. The work on the medical stations is being carried out to the tune of approximately EC$75, 000.
