GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE WEBPORTAL
BDC wishes to significantly create its presence on the Internet through the design and implementation of a web portal for clients, potential clients, Business Support Organizations, the media and the general public.
The objectives for the web portal are to:
- Provide users with information on and about the BDC
- Provide users with overall information on the BDC’s services
- Provide users with specific information on our technical assistance services
- Provides users with information on upcoming training programmes
- Provide relevant trade and product information to clients via eight(8) databases:
- Trade Development
- Export Promotion
- Export and Trade Support
- Expert Database
- Small Business Directory
- Business Opportunities
- Product Catalogue
- News and Announcements
- Provide information on current and upcoming BDC events
Provide latest business news and announcements(local and regional and international)
Provide copies of publications in downloadable format
Provide users with access to interactive business tools
Provide users with a photo gallery of BDC related activities
Create chat room where users can interact with officers of the Centre
Provide links to local, regional and international Business Support Organizations
Provide answers to frequently asked questions (FAQ’s)
Allow clients to create an account and log in to upload information unto specified databases (Product Catalogue, Small Business Directory and Experts Databases)
Create a consistent, user‐friendly and appealing appearance for the site
SCOPE OF WORK
- Design the architecture for the portal
- Upload content to populate page templates prior to launch
- Test the portals functions thoroughly
- Conduct in-house training for designated staff on site modification and maintenance
- Prepare and provide a manual (soft and hard copy) outlining the procedures and steps in modifying portal content and layout
- Consult with BDC/ GIDC management regarding the testing and launching of the portal and launch site either through a hosting agreement or on the current server of the Corporation.
