The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat, Directorate of Trade and Economic Integration, has been mandated to develop a Harmonised Policy on Industry for the Caribbean. Funding has been provided under the European Development Fund (9Th EDF).
The policy will seek to address issues which are common to the interests of CARICOM Member States, to create an enabling environment which will engender sustainable development for the Regional Industrial Sector. The policy will also seek to address the needs of small and medium sized enterprises (SME’s), to avail them the opportunity to develop into sustainable entities.
The process will begin with facilitating capacity building at the national and regional levels, providing a set of practical activities and interventions which will progressively provide the impetus to achieve global competitiveness of industries. The Grenada Industrial Development Corporation is the focal point for collaborating with the CARICOM Secretariat to ensure Grenada’s contribution to the harmonised policy.
