The Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Tourism and Finance, are in the process of finalizing plans for the launch of the Grenada Consular Tourism and Trade Office in Trinidad.
BACKGROUND:
The Building, located on 127 Henry Street Port of Spain, was made available to the Government of Grenada by the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in 2003.
The decision was made by the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago:
- Recognizing the close cultural, social, economic and familial relationships which bind their two peoples.
- Acknowledging the need to consolidate and deepen the process of integration between the two countries in the drive to create a single economic space in the region
The agreement which was signed for a period of five years is automatically renewed for successive periods unless either party serves notice they no longer wish to pursue same.
Additionally, the Government of Trinidad and Tobago has also agreed to bear utility costs for electricity and water while the Government of Grenada is responsible for telephone and Staffing.
OBJECTIVES:
The Building now referred to as the Grenada Consular, Tourism and Trade Office will provide Consular services to Grenadians, Advance Regional Tourism and Trade between the two countries as well as to promote and protect Social Economic and Cultural ties.
ACTION:
The launch is scheduled for June 25th in Trinidad and will be attended by a Grenada Delegation lead by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, other Government Ministers, and relevant staff.
NB: The Grenada Consular, Tourism and Trade Planning Committee, in conjunction with Dr Vernon Scoon-Honorary Counsul and Head of the GCTTO is in search of qualified Grenadians at home or in Trinidad to promote the objectives and interest of the Office. (Employment Opportunities based in Trinidad)
The Grenada delegation will arrive in Trinidad on June 23rd.
