The main objective is to highlight to stakeholders the upgrade of the ASYCUDA System and how it will impact on their doing business with the Customs Department. The presentation will be done by Mr. Fabian Joseph, UNCTAD's Regional IT Consultant.
The new automated procedures are geared towards improving Customs operations and enhancing trade facilitation which in turn will support increased economic activities in the country. The Grenada Customs Department sets the stage for e–Government in Grenada with the introduction of ASYCUDA World, a dynamic tool that uses web based technology that will revolutionize the way business is transacted by Customs and traders in Grenada. This new application lends itself to vast improvements in Trade Facilitation and ultimately ease the delays, time consumption and loss of revenue associated with doing business in Grenada.
ASYCUDA was developed by UNCTAD as a means of compiling foreign trade statistics. The software was designed to handle manifests and customs declarations, accounting procedures, transit and suspense procedures. ASYCUDA World is the latest version of the software that has been enhanced by web interface technology to revolutionize Customs, taking trade facilitation in Grenada and the region to another level.
