The Business Development Centre was created in 2006 as a department of the Grenada Industrial Development Corporation to aid, counsel, assist and protect the interest of small business concerns, to preserve free competitive enterprise and to maintain and strengthen the overall economy of our nation.

 

The main focus of the enterprise is to concentrate on enhancing business efficiency, innovation, and growth in Grenada by absorbing and enhancing business efficiency, innovation, growth and development in existing and new enterprise.

 

We recognize that small business is critical to our economic recovery and strength, to building Grenada’s future, and helping Grenada compete in today’s global marketplace. Although the BDC has grown and evolved within the past year it was established in 2005, when the Grenada Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Grenada Business and Agriculture Revitalization (GBAR) project, which was implemented by CARANA Corporation and funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The Centre was managed by CARANA Corporation until January 2006 when the GBAR project came to an end. GIDC assumed full control of the Centre that year and later changed its name to the Grenada Business Development Centre.

 

The Centre helps Grenadians’ primarily start, and create their own businesses, through extensive collaboration and partnership with public and private organizations, BDC attempts to deliver its services to Prospective clients’ throughout Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
